Reedwarblin'
As the new park ecologist, you've been tasked with managing Wetlands Regional Park … but you can't keep these dang reeds under control!
Carefully arrange water, boardwalks, and native species to get as many fireflies (points) as possible before the reeds overgrow.

Controls:
- X/space to start
- Arrow keys/WASD to move the cursor
- X/space to place the "NOW" tile
- R to restart
The game also works okay on mobile. Swipe to move the cursor and tap to place tiles. Pull the menu out from the side to restart.

How to Play:
Recommendation: Just start playing and experiment! Then come down here if you get confused :)
Every time you place a tile, another reed tile will grow (randomly). Keep placing tiles until the wetland is full, at which point your score will be shown.
Your score comes from getting as many fireflies as possible. Each tile can have between 0 and 4 fireflies. Tiles can also have a red X, which means they won't ever get any fireflies :(

You can get fireflies from animals, plants, and boardwalks:
Animals | ||
---|---|---|
Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus) | ![]() | Warblers like to be surrounded by reeds, but they're territorial and don't like neighbours. |
Pool Frog (Pelophylax lessonae) | ![]() | Frogs like to be surrounded by lily pads and pond lilies. They are also solitary creatures. |
Tench (Tinca tinca) | ![]() | Tench are fish, so they like water of course. This includes boardwalks. Don't put tench in schools. |
Plants | ||
Water Lily (Nymphaeaceae) | ![]() | Water lilies get fireflies for other water lilies in their row or column (once per direction). |
Weeping Willow (Salix babylonica) | ![]() | Willows start with 4 fireflies but lose them all if there is another willow in their row or column. |
Boardwalks | ||
![]() | ![]() | Boardwalks get one firefly for each connected boardwalk next to it. |
Habitats: These tiles do not give any fireflies, but they help to get fireflies from animals.
Water | ![]() | Water is the habitat for fish. |
Lily Pad | ![]() | Lily pads are the habitat for frogs. |
Reeds | ![]() | Reeds are the habitat for warblers. You do not place reeds. They place themselves, whether you like it or not. |
Phew! Did you get all that?
